If your looking for some creative giving ideas, here are some ideas.
Start tithing from your gross income
If you haven’t already done so, give 10% of your gross income.
Tax Return
Plan to donate this year’s tax return on Commitment Weekend (March 26/27. Pledge your anticipated 2012, or 2013 return.
Give Up Something
How much do you spend a month on: cable, pop, latte’s, eating out? Consider going without and include this monthly savings amount in your 2-year faith pledge.
Redirect retirement contributions for a season of time
Some people have ample retirement funds or IRA’s in which a small portion could be withdrawn and used in part towards a 2-year faith pledge or by just redirecting retirement contributions for a season of time.
Property Donation
Sometime a gift of real estate can be beneficial to the donor. It is essential to speak with a qualified real estate attorney to explore this gift. Call Jacob Powers @ 230-2406.
Stock and Bonds
A common gift is the transfer of appreciated stock to the church. The donor avoids paying capital gains tax and receives the full value of the stock at the time of transfer as a charitable contribution. Call Jacob Powers @ 230-2406.
401K, IRA or Roth
It is possible to give out of these accounts. Be advised that you will have to pay taxes and penalties. If you are over 70 ½ you are eligible to donate up to $100,000 out of your retirement directly to LCN. Please be advised to speak to your tax consultant or financial advisor.
Sell An Asset
For example, a motorcycle, boat, snowmobile, car, or other recreational vehicle.
Donate Items of Value

Collect Loose Change
Many different stores and banks will give you an option to cash out your change for cash. You may be surprise how much you may have in change.
Gold or Jewelry
Gold is at an all time high. Donate jewelry or gold directly to Life Center North or sell it yourself and donate the proceeds. Questions: call Jacob Powers @ 230-2406.
Hold a Fundraiser
Get your friends together and have a car wash, bake sale, garage sale, etc.
Craig's list
You might be surprised what you have of value to post and sell on Craig’s list:
- You could rent out your condo or vacation home and give that money as a donation.
- Offer to take other members on a fishing or hunting trip for a fee that would then be given as a donation.
- Rent land or property and give hunting access for a price.
- Rent a room in your house and give the rent money collected as a donation
- Antiques and precious items
- Cameras, cell phones, laptops, game consuls, or a vehicle/RV.
Gifts of Real Estate
Sometimes a gift of real estate can be beneficial to the donor. A donor might arrange the gift of an undivided portion of real property, This means only a part of the value of the property is given. This may be a useful when a donor is considering selling a property such as appreciated vacant land or a second home not encumbered by a mortgage. This plan must be established before a property is put on the market, and there cannot be a buyer "in the wings," i.e., already identified. Again, it is essential to speak with the campaign consultant and a qualified real estate attorney to explore this gift option.
